Stone Forms are integral features of a Zen garden. The shapes have symbols that depict the elements of wood, metal, water, fire and earth. These are focal points for a meditative retreat whether you are in the garden or inside a structure.
Nature’s element of fire is well represented here with this arching formation. Sometimes we can see fire representation on branching stones too. In the photo above, “fire” stone is planted away from “water” stone for the obvious reason.
Last but not the least is the “earth” stone, which has the appearance of a reclining slab here. With it’s wide expanse, it is easy to imagine why earth element is a focus for relaxation and tranquility.
Thank you for reading.
